"Insert into Current Design" not always resulting in a component that is linked?

In the below video I insert 2 designs into the design I have open. The first gets linked, the second does not. Is this expected behavior or am I doing something wrong?

Also is there a setting I can tick so I can insert designs into other current designs without them being linked?

- Time Magazine’s Person of the Year 2006
- Apple M1 Max rMBP A2485 // Latest MacOS // Latest Fusion
- Usually working off files uploaded to Fusion as: Step, STL, SLDPRT. If it matters ask me.

This error message pops up at the very end of your screencast. That is the reason it is not linked.

Aah nice catch.

Any idea why I'm not able to view more information about the warning message? As soon as I click on "more info" (whether before or after hitting the enter key to finalize the move/copy command) the warning message just disappears:

Hi Frodo,

your Workholdings and your Part Data, needs to be in the same Project Folder.

Inside of the Project folder you can create sub Folders with Workholdings and Parts.

The Link works only for 3D Models that are in the same Projekt.

Data you pull from an other Projekt folder will always be copied, not linked.

I hope that helps.

Best regards,

Alexander

Then my system does not seem to know that, because
I regularly link designs from other projects.

@g-andresen - I think it may depend on the type of hub you have - a "team hub" can support cross-project references, while a "single-user hub" does not.
