Question about the 10 editable documents

I've watched a couple videos on this and as I understand the 10 count is 10 editable documents, so can someone explain this to me like I'm 5:

You can have 10 editible ones and as many read only as you want.

Kimberley Duckers These are the only documents I have, but it's the 3 of 10 at the top that puzzles me.

Matt Short I have seen times when there is a lag that affects that number at the top being updated. And at a later point a few hours or the next day it settles out to match what I have set for my projects.
I am always self auditing where my count is and change the edit-ability of files to accommodate my workflow. My count it always correct eventually.

Matt Short You have 2 more editable files in another folder somewhere, you are just looking at your "recent files"

And I just now made two of them readable-only and the number changed instantly, 🤨
