Proxy help- new password

Hello,

I have been struggling with Fusion now for a few day and its driving me mad. I have installed/re-installed it 3 times now and it still won't connect to the internet.

When I first ran the installer I had no problems. I was prompted to enter the proxy username and password and the Stream install began. When it was finished the program started and I was using Fusion for a few days, no problem.

After a few days is wouldn't open and gave me the 'Can't connect to Internet' dialogue and would then close.

I had a look at the logs and it said:

"ProxyAuthenticationRequired called, but proxy authentication dialog is disabled. Returning without prompting for proxy credentials."

Why does it not promt me for the password? Surely if I just get that little proxy log on box all would be well? It can clearly do it when I use the stream install, and its has used it before, as I have used Fusion with this exact configuration before.

I have done all the recommended things that I have found so far but nothing has worked.

I hope someone can help me here as I really need to get moving on a project.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Fusion community!

I'm sorry to hear about these issues you have been having while working with Fusion through a proxy server! From your log files, it looks like a few exceptions just need to be added to your proxy server settings. Luckily, this seems to be something that we run into sometimes, so we have a couple great articles, one for Windows and one for macOS, that describe how to go about modifying these settings to allow proper communication. I have linked the articles below.

Configure Proxy/Firewall for Windows

Configure Proxy/Firewall for macOS

Would you mind working through the instructions there for your operating system?

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to hearing back from you!

Cheers,

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately I have already tried the things mentioned in the article, to
no avail.

The problem is when I add the list of domains that shouldn't use the proxy,
I can no longer access the websites (knowledge.autodesk.com for example).

Any other advice? I don't see how this is a proxy server problem because I
have been using Fusion before with the exact same setup. Just one day it no
longer prompted me for proxy login details and could no longer connect.
Really frustrating.

Thanks again, I hope we can get this sorted asap.

After doing more research, I have seen some have had success with the username and password Environment Variables. I have tried adding both http_proxy and https_proxy but still no luck.

Could you please explain how to add the username and password Environment Variable?

http_proxy=http://your_proxy:your_port
http_proxy=http://username:password@your_proxy:your_port
https_proxy=https://your_proxy:your_port
https_proxy=https://username:password@your_proxy:your_port

 The problem I'm having is it won't let me use the same name twice(http_proxy)? Is the name important? If so, what should I call the password variable?

It says in the article-  "It may also help to add further syntax as necessary to assist with authentication (e.g. http://user:pwd@XXX.X.X.X:8080 ). " But I'm not sure what that means. I tried adding it to the end of the variable but it didn't help:

https_proxy=https://your_proxy:your_port; https://username:password@your_proxy:your_port

 Thanks for any advice,

Jeremy
