Project data files for one project are not accessable after reinstall of Fusion

MacOS 12.  The user account on my iMac became unusable (Finder refused to execute or very slowly).  Created a new account and restored via Migration Assistant.  The Fusion app on the new account was not avaialble and I removed Fusion (via the uninstall app) and re installed Fusion.

The Fusion project I was actively working shows the data files in the project list, but trying to open one gives a error re unexpected problems downloading the file.

The web page for the project does not have similar behavior.  Requesting a download generates (in the near future) an email with a link.  Clicking on the link get the file... so the data is there.   But a link is gone.

The log file is included.   What can I do?

@threeleggedcat.shop Here is a quick one to try.

1. Go to the data panel and right click on the design and select - "Add to offline cache"
2. Put Fusion 360 in the offline mode
3. Make a very small change and save
4. Bring Fusion back to online
5. The change should now get uploaded back to the cloud

Now does this start working/opening in the online mode?

It and another file I created uploaded successfully to the project and, after closing, I could open them.  Not so all the rest in the at fault project that I tried.   mark

@threeleggedcat.shop Is it correct that you are not able to open ANY other files in that project other than these 2 files that you can now open?

@threeleggedcat.shop I am trying to work with our Fusion team on the access part and here a a few more questions if you can help answer please so that we can look at what could be happening.

  • Did the customer try to access their content from fusion web?
  • Did the customer try to access their content from another computer?
  • Did the customer try to access their content from another network?

Is it possible to to try opening the data on another machine or network?

Did the customer try to access their content from fusion web?
Yes. Successfully downloaded a data file from project "rbs Multiball", modified it in Fusion and then added it back to the project. This and another test data file are retrievable on the Mac.

Did the customer try to access their content from another computer?
Yes! And it worked. Big hint here. Cache?

Did the customer try to access their content from another network?
No.

Is it possible to to try opening the data on another machine or network?
Yes and no.

Ok, should I try deleting the cache? Or...?

@threeleggedcat.shop Thank you for the quick reply. So it does seem like a cache issue because you can successfully access it on the web and with Fusion 360 on another machine.

If you can delete cache and try again on this machine, I think that would do it. The test we ran earlier where we did an offline cache and then those models worked could explain the same.

No joy.  There are at least two projects affected ("rbs Multi ball" and "10 gallon with intank sump").  After deleting cache and the restart of Fusion, both projects do not initially display the list of data files.  Only after clicking on the continually spinning refresh button at the top do you see the list, but the data files still do not display.

The refresh button never stops spinning and I've had F crash twice if left in this state, but can't confirm a definitive relationship.  I did file a crash report yesterday, I think.

My data is there, thank goodness, so I can download and recreate the projects but I'd rather not.

I ran into a similar problem yesterday and I have opened a support ticket.

After modifying an existing Design or Drawing stored in the Data Panel, SAVE attempts to save the design as an f3d file offline cashed version to my local workstation hard drive. It does not save to the cloud Data Panel. Also noted: slashes used are in the wrong direction for Win10 and the online version is not updated.

I have not tried to promote the design (in question) from the cloud/or Data Panel and see it that corrects the problem. That might be a better workaround than using the offline cache.

Has anyone tried to promote the cloud design/file (in question) from within the Data Panel and see it that corrects the problem?

@threeleggedcat.shop The data is definitely there and we just need to figure out why these designs cannot be opened on this particular machine.

On that machine, if you go to Fusion team (web) and select the design that is the problem and select "Open in desktop" does it now establish the sync it needs?

I found a solution, but it involved erasing the harddrive and reinstalling Monterey MacOS and restoring from a July (!) backup. I then judiciously selected files to restore from an October 10 (recent) backup. I did not restore any Library files for Fusion.

After an update to the current version of Fusion, the files I tried now download.

I'd like to stress that the drastic measure of disk erasure is not due to Fusion (not all!), but an apparently corrupt Finder.

Thank you, Rajkumar ilanchelian, for your help.
