This is the second time this has happened. one in a linked component assembly is no longer updated. In the case in the photo, the file in the assembly is version 13 while the external file is version 18.

I have the impression that the problem occurred after using this "save configured design as" functionality.
By the way, is there a difference between "save configured design as" picture 1 and "save as" picture 2?

Not sure about configurations but there is a difference between Save As and Save Copy As. Save As creates an exact copy of the design using the same IDs for its data whereas Save Copy As create a unique copy. In the past you could run into a lot of trouble if you uses Save As to create copies then inserted the copies into the same assembly because you'd have conflicts where the IDs in the files would be the same. Not sure if this is still a problem but seem to remember having similar problem to what you describe where editing one inserted part would make the copies out of date and not able to update the copies.
