Pressing Q does not orient the view

My previous post regarding this was removed as it was classesd as spam after I edited it a couple of times????

I am new to fusion 360 and want to use keyboard shortcuts, When I have finished my sketch I press "Q" to Press/Pull and it doesn't re-orient the view to select the face and see the blue arrow to extrude or subtract.

I have included a screen cast although not sure the keyboard strokes are visible, but I definitely pressed Q after sketching. It happens intermittently not all the time?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

@jakeq21 - yeah, the spam filter is sometimes too aggressive here, we all get caught once in a while...

A couple of things to check.  When you bring up the drop-down under Modify, does "Q" still show as the shortcut for Press/Pull?  You can now change the hotkey assignment for commands, and it might have gotten overridden.

Second, look at your preferences.  Is the "Auto Look At Sketch" option checked?  The automatic view rotation into and out of sketch mode is controlled by this option.

Third, did you happen to rotate the view after you started editing the sketch?  Even with auto look at on, if you rotate the view in sketch mode, Fusion assumes you did that intentionally, and want to keep that when you exit, not restore you to the previous view.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you very much for your speedy reply.

1. Yes "Q" still shows as the Shortcut.

2. The checkbox for Auto look at sketch is on.

3. I think your 3rd idea has solved it, when I go into sketch and move the 3d orbit, it stays back in that view when pressing "Q". Interestingly though if you move the 3d orbit whilst in sketch and then return it back to a 2D view using the reference box in the top right corner, which I must have done,  it still sometimes fail to orient the view. That must be why I thought it was happening intermittently as I was doing this from time to time.

Thanks Jeff, you are a genius!

All the best,

Jake

I just had this issue and it was the third option, as it seems to work fine as long as I do not rotate whilst in the sketch 2D view. 👍

Why do your screenshots of the UI look so crisp?

I'm using a 4K monitor on Windows 10 and using HighDPIScaling and High Resolution and the icons look NOWHERE NEAR as sharp! Plus every time I restart, it resets, so I have to do it all again! That, and the panels for Sketching and Extruding reset to their default location on the right every time 😞
