Can someone help?

 

on the AutoDesk website it shows planes on start up as below

however when I start the program I see the planes as below

stevefaplatt_1-1589823801343.png

which is correct?

Both are correct, it just depends on you preference of whether you want the Y axis up or the Z axis up. You can change the orientation in preferences.

In addition to @wmhazzard, I think you have touched the view cube accidentally.  If you see this orientation, try and touch the indicated icon beside the view cube in the upper right hand corner of the design area and see what happens.

Technically those images are the same.

Red=X

Green=Y

Blue=Z

You can change the orientation of what you call Top, but X is still X, Y is still Y and Z is still Z. 

This gives you a universal coordinate system between various CAD softwares.
