Perpendicular dimensioning in drawing

hi, 

I'm having problem with dimensioning perpendicular from a center line to a point. I could do it but I think it changed recently. Basically what i want to do is to be able to measure from the center line to the next point, and now it's measuring only the starting point of the center line and the other point? Any hints? I could do that before in drawings.

Thanks, it is the right technique.

Didn't work with the other solution shown because my line isn't vertical, but this one does.
