PC Restarts When I Zoom In

Hello

My PC restarts when I zoom in on a model. Pretty weird. Not every zoom-in triggers a restarts but I can't go for more than 2 min without the PC suddenly restarting.

I tried different files that I have worked on previously for hours and I tried uploading new files. I also tried uninstalling Fusion and reinstalling it. Same thing. I stress tested the PC using CPU-Z for about an hour and I did not notice any issues. I have been using Fusion on same PC for about 18 months and did not have system related issues.

I also tried to zoom in using the mouse and my SpaceMouse. In both cases the PC restarts after few consecutive zoom operations.

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks

This sounds like a hardware fault. The kind of things that make a computer restart are often hardware related, in this case I'd guess GPU. Power cycling is a sign of the computer in an emergency mode.

Could you please gather your graphics diagnostic info, from Help > Support and Diagnostics?

Also, if you are using multiple monitors, try disconnecting all but the main monitor and then try zooming again.

Hi Phil

Thanks for your reply. My graphics diagnostic info are below:

[GPU Information]
GPU Device: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
GPU RAM: 8192 MB
GPU Driver API: DirectX 11.0
GPU Driver Version: 497.09
GPU Driver Date: 11/27/2021

[Graphics Effects Settings]
Anti Aliasing: Off
Ambient Occlusion: On
Object Shadow: Off
Ground Shadow: On
Ground Reflection: Off
Selection Display Style: Normal
Transparency Effect: Better Performance

[Limit effects to optimize performance]
Off

I updated my drivers and now when I launch graphics intensive games (Battlefield 2042) the PC restarts immediately. I think you are spot on to blame this behavior on the graphics card.

I realize this seems to be an issue that's unrelated to Fusion 360 but I would appreciate it if you can point me to the right direction so I can find out exactly what the issue is. Graphics cards are impossible to buy now and the ones are available are sold 3 to 4 time MSRP so I hope I can find a solution that doesn't involve buying new hardware.

Thanks

This has been solved by removing the GPU from motherboard and reseating it and reconnecting the power cables.

Now everything works perfectly. I also reset the power plan to default.

Thank you @Phil.E for pointing out that it is a GPU hardware issue.
