Parts of an imported DXF file internal features do not act separately

When i import this DXF it does everything fine, except some of the internal features, stars in this case, show up as their own features that can be extruded by themselves, and some seem locked to the main sketch.

in the photo i included you can see how most of the internal features show up white, however 3 of the stars do not for some reason and act as if they are a part of the main sketch.

this is something i plan on plasma cutting out, but when i extrude the sketch i can't get those 3 stars to behave like the rest.

Hello-

Those stars that are "shaded in" mean that their profiles are not closed.

A tip I use is to edit the sketch, then draw a line across one of the stars, cutting it in half.  If one half turns shaded, you know the problem is on the other half.  Keep moving the line until you find the "gap" and fill it with a small line segment.

I show an example of this in a LiveStream I did awhile back: https://youtu.be/TnnNB6LEu1g?t=2168
