Parametric Text Value Not Saved with Drawing

New to Fusion, this is one of my first designs.

I have create 3 simply cabinetry jigs that use parametric values more specifically 1 parameter of type TEXT to assign automatically assign the text to the text box based on the parameter.

For some reason 2 of the files work correctly in that I can simply change the parameter and the text auto-updates but this 3rd file always reverts to the value of the parameter in both locations where text exists.

Works as expected:  T Parameterized.f3d

Text box not working correctly and converting to value: Plus Parameterized.f3d

I am sure that I am the problem here but can't for the life of me understand why it work in one file but not the other.

To make matters worse, I can correct the problem, save the file and it will revert back to the text value as opposed to the parameter the next time I open the file.

Hi,

Your text menu contains a fixed value instead of the variable name “SIZE”.

Yes this is the problem. Even if you add the variable SIZE to this model and save the file it will show ‘5/8”’ the next time you open the file. I am trying to figure out why SIZE disappears when you save the file.

This did not occur when I repeated the actions several times.

Perhaps a utility would be helpful?

Please let us know if this ever repeats.

  1. To fix your design, temporarily make a 'text'+parameter formula.
  2. Finish the sketch.
  3. Edit the sketch again and erase the formula, replace with just the word SIZE.
  4. Close and open the sketch/design to validate the fix.
