How does two lines parallel lines of equal length give perpendicular lines of different lengths?

 

The two driven dimensions are the ones I am confused about, all lines pictured are dead straight.

Vertical height.

Aligned true length.

You have dimensioned the Vertical Height and the Hypotenuse.

 

Note the angles of your dimension text and arrows...
