Open your active component and turn on visibility of the components origin or activate the top level.

Dear @rhetths

Please try to select the (unsaved) component and then Activate it by pressing the little circle.

That will fix the issue.

So if i have a component activated it makes the global origin feint.  Is that a good thing?

What if i want to see if the global and component origins are in the same or different places, or otherwise how they are in relation to each other, would that mean i should have the component inactivated?

What if i am trying to align the component to the global origin, in that case should i also have the component inactivated?

If you do not want the top level origin, or for that matter, any component to not fade when you activate a component remove the indicated check mark in your Preferences.
