Operations not being recorded in Timeline (but appear in the Browser?)

What does it mean when none of the operations I'm performing are being recorded in a Timeline, but instead are appearing in the Browser, as such:

Notes:

• I have Capture Design History enabled in the preferences.
• My workflow is as follows:
  • 1) Import OBJ object as mesh
  • 2) Convert to mesh to solid
  • 3) Modify the solid (nothing gets recorded to timeline)
• I have done the above numerous times without incident, but for some reason now (after the latest update perhaps?) I'm having this issue.

Imported designs are always created as Direct Modeling designs, not Parametric designs.  The preference is only used when created completely new empty designs.  After import, just turn on history,  by right-clicking on the root node in the component browser and choosing "Capture Design History":

I swear this was automated before because I've done this a lot and don't recall having to do this... but that said I'm also very scatterbrained lately so anything is possible!

I'm certain that this has always been the case - imported designs have always been created as DM designs, because it has been an area of complaints for Fusion's entire 10 year existence...
