Hi,

 I think this is a Fusion 360 question, but it may be a teams question.

 I am working on a large project with many sub assemblies with a number of collaborators.  We keep conflicting with each other when trying to work. The parent assemblies can't be saved whenever someone saves a sub assembly.

   Is there a way for us to open a file as read-only?  I have seen that this is possible in the personal version, but I don't see the same functionality in my educational version. I am hoping that such a feature will allow me to open the same file as someone else, and allow me to make measurements or sketches that I do not intend to save.

To be honest, I miss the functionality of GrabCAD, where I could decide when I wanted a design to be pushed to my teammates.

Perhaps we are doing the collaboration wrong.

Thank you,

Paul

Thank you,

Using Milestones may be what you need.  Take a look at this Blog Article and Video and to see how they work.

So in educational version you don't see "Read-Only for Me" option when you right click on the root component? Maybe your team's admin can enable Design Reservation to prevent conflicts. I might be totally wrong since I am on a subscription.

Thank you for the quick response.

I looked into the milestones, and that could be a solution.

In looking at the milestone material, however, I realized that I can open a previous versions of the file as read-only, so our solution is to save a version at the start of a class, and then everyone who only needs read-only access can open the previous version.

Thank you again,

@hamid.sh.

I guess I was looking in the wrong place for this. From the online guides, I was expecting to find this in the data panel.

Now I see it in the browser window.  I'll give that a try tonight.

Thank you.
