Non-planar section displays

I find the planar section display very limiting when working on styled geometry for 3D printing. I often need to resort to splitting an object with curved surfaces simply to work "inside" the model and then having to unite it all again afterward. Being able to select a non-planar surface to display a section view of a model will be very helpful. 

The model in the attached screenshot has no planer surfaces and creating the compliant latching mechanism inside the part is challenging if you can't easily hide sections of the solid following those curves.
