New User Splitting body of preloaded component

I'm working on a VEX robotics CAD and I uploaded a library of parts to my workspace.

Once I've uploaded a part into my current design, how can I change its dimensions; i.e. cut off a section of steel bar from a preexisting designed one?

Obviously if I designed my own component instead of uploading them I could've specified it to my exact needs, but there are so many parts required for a VEX robot.

There are several ways to remove geometry from an existing body.  You can define a surface or workplane and use Split Body, then Remove to get rid of the part of the body you don't want.  Or, you can sketch a profile, then use Cut with one of the features in the Solid tab (Extrude, Sweep, Revolve, etc) to cut away the material you don't want.  However, as @TheCADWhisperer says, we can't give much more specific advice than that without seeing more concrete questions, particularly the model you want to modify, and an idea of what portions of the model you want to remove.
