New to animation, and it's not behaving how I expect

Hello,

I am new to animation, and I have a model with multiple components.

I watched a quick video on how to begin animating.

I set my time (10 seconds)>click on the component>transform>set pivot and degrees, hit enter.

The timeline doesn't populate, and my component does not get listed in the animation component list, unless, get this...I HIDE the component in the tree in the main window.

I can get it to animate a camera movement, but not to move any components.

Any thoughts? Do I have to have joints in the model before it will animate?

Thanks!

Take a look at the Screencast to see the process of adding component Transformations to the Timeline.  You do not have to have Joints in order to create an Animation but it sure helps to have your model assembled correctly to start with.

Edit: I forgot to type in a movement value but it works the same.  Select your direction, then enter the value you want it to displace.

@jhackney1972
I very much appreciate you taking the time, here, sir.

However, Fusion is not behaving like what you have shown to me.

I also have a firewall preventing me from installing the screen recorder, so I could record exactly how it is behaving. Instead I attached these photos of the sequence, hopefully it makes sense.

But, when I move the time forward, to allow for a movement, and select a component, click transform, I get the transform menu, but it doesn't have include trails or split transforms.

It allows me to place a pivot point, which is the Z-axis for me.

Anyway, I drag the angle of the pivot-point mark, rotating in the Z-axis, and the Z-axis automatically populates that angle as the change. I hit enter, but that movement does not populate underneath in the timeline.

Camera moves will show up, easily. But not component moves.

The only way I can get the component to show up under "animation timeline" is if I HIDE it in the tree above next to the model. It then appears in the timeline, but the bar that stretches through the time-line is yellow and has a lightbulb. In the main design window, nothing is hidden.

I have tried to show this in 3 snips in photos, attached.

Thanks again for your help!

I cannot tell much from just screen captures.  If you do not want to configure your firewall to install Screencast, use Windows built in recorder or something else.  Static  screen captures will not help anyone troubleshoot your issue.  By the way, I logged into Fusion 360 using my test Personal License to be sure the license type had not effect on your situation and it does not.  I hope to see a video of your issue and I will then maybe be able to assist you further.
