New OS, files mixed up

Anonymous

Went from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Installed fusion. Most of my files were gone. I could access my editable documents and a few read only ones, but most of my directories were gone. I went ahead and worked on a design last night. Today I load up fusion, and ALL of my files are gone, and some files I know I did not make are there instead. I have double checked my email and password, something has been mixed up, and not by me. Can I please get some help?

Its normally one of two things -

  1. Wrong account (which you double checked)
  2. Wrong Hub

You might be in a different location, i.e. a personal user storage hub rather than a team hub. (i've not checked if you have multiple hubs yet but i could.)

I do want to clarify in general nothing is stored locally outside of anything you have cached or specified for use offline (long term cache). So upgrading your OS would not have removed your data.

I did a clean install on a new SSD. But since nothing is stored locally except for files I specifically export, the files should not be effected. I have not changed locations. I am using the same computer, just a new hard drive. I am sitting in the same chair. I just checked my account information again. It is correct.

You are an owner of two hubs, given you clean uninstalled Fusion, it would have reset your active hub to the default - which in your case is single user storage hub. Click in the upper left corner in the data panel, and specify the Team Hub, and then verify if your data is there:

I never uninstalled fusion. Do you mean a clean install? Also, I never changed my hub, it must have been done automatically. So I guess editable files aggregate and are accessible across all hubs for the same account?

This did fix my issue, thank you.

Ahh, well in either case of clean install - the OS or Fusion the same would occur in that any existing xml pointing to the proper hub would be removed.
