Multiple fusion Icons on taksbar

Hi since the latest update there is now one Fusion icon that I have pinned to my windows taskbar, then when I open fusion another appears alongside, this is causing people to accidently open multiple instances of fusion

I'm having this issue too. I have re-pinned it multiple times but it still does it ALMOST every time (now and then it doesn't duplicate the icon on launch but usually it does).

Re-pinned it by removing the current and then pinning the icon of the open app and also tried pinning it from the start menu but does the same either way.

I'm having the same problem.  When I click on the pinned icon f360 starts to load, pauses about 15 seconds with a mostly blank window, and then it finally loads and a second icon appears in the taskbar.  I have unpinned the old icon and then pinned the new one but that doesn't help.  The next startup does the same thing.

This is a PITA because I have to do the unpining, repining, and the move the new one to where it belongs, over and over.

I'm on windows 11, build 22000.795.  *BUT* F360 help says it is windows 10.  Maybe this is the cause of the problem?

F360 Version from help window ...

2.0.13619, Active Plan: Fusion 360, Personal
Windows 10 Home 21H2 x86_64 (22000.795)  <<<<< WRONG

I willl post this as a separate issue.

I don't think the operating system version misidentification would have anything to do with this.

What I do think is happening is that when you pin a running Fusion to the taskbar, what gets referenced is the specific build that you pinned. If, instead, you want to pin something to the task bar that whatever is the *current* version of Fusion, you actually need to pin what's called the Fusion Launcher, which is what gets put onto the desktop when you install Fusion.

You can get it pinned to the taskbar by right-clicking on the Fusion 360 icon on the desktop -- which actually launches the Fusion Launcher -- and selecting "Pin to taskbar".

So far, though, I've been unable to get it to show the right Fusion icon, even if I modify its properties and selection the Fusion360.ico file that's in the same folder as the executable. In addition, there will be a second icon added to the taskbar when Fusion is running.

I'll ask around to see if anyone knows how to accomplish what you really want.

@jeff.pek

It never used to be an issue before the rebranding for me. Seems when the icons and load page got updated something changed with how it was handled in the task bar. I’ve ended up removing it from the task bar now and just loading manually from the start menu every time, slightly annoying.

Well as of an update yesterday the issue has gone for me.

Fusion updated, the task bar icon I had pinned lost it's icon and when I clicked it, it said it couldn't find the .exe

So I launched fusion via the start menu and re-pinned it; worked perfectly ever since, with no duplicate icons.

I find if I unpin and repin it works fine until the next update…

Thanks.  Unpinning it, starting from the launcher on the desktop, and then pinning it worked for me.

Edit:

I've been unable to get it to show the right Fusion icon

It gave me the right icon.

Was there ever a solution to this?

I have tried multiple ways to solve this and nothing seems to work

The fusion I have pinned to the task bar is the launcher

But everytime i open it it opens a new icon, I've gotten pretty good at not clicking on the wrong one but sometimes ill accidently still open a new instance of fusion.

I think this may have been related to a Windows update rathe than a fusion one as my Edrawings now does the same thing

Interestingly I can see which is active by the blue line underneath in my screenshot, but not actually on my screen
