Mouse scroll no longer zooms in MacOS

I use a Mac mini M2 Pro with a Magic Mouse and the new version, Fusion 360 2.0.16753 no longer zooms when I use the "scroll wheel" on my mouse.

With the new version, the scroll wheel only pans up and down or side to side. I can't find a way to use modifier keys to zoom in and out with the mouse. With the old version scroll up and down would zoom (I forget which way).

What I have:

Fusion 360 2.0.16753 arm64 [Native]
Plan actif: Personnal
macOS 13.5 (22G74) on Mac14,12

Magic Mouse 2nd generation

Just to add to my original post:

Not being able to zoom using the scroll wheel makes it VERY annoying to use the Drawing Workspace: If I zoom in using the magnifying glass and want to zoom out, I can't. I have to close the drawing and reopen it so it opens at full page view. 😕

Thanks for the report. I have identified this issue to be specific to the Magic Mouse's touch surface. For some reason, Fusion is getting trackpad touch events back from the OS rather than mouse events.

The quickest workaround for the moment would be to utilize a traditional 3-5 button mouse, as this is not reproducible with a scroll wheel.

This issue is logged as FUS-133609

Hi @jctfjcwy, could you please try try unchecking Use gesture-based view navigation in Preferences? This will also disable gestures for the trackpad, but will serve as a workaround until the issue can be resolved.

Just to add to this: @lance.carocci use gesture-based navigation solution worked for me!

Very annoying thing to troubleshoot, I must say. No issues with this happening before. I use a Mac Studio with magic mouse, common denominator = Magic Mouse. Similar to above, traditional mouse is not an option. This works for now, hopefully it doesn't affect anything negatively going forward!

Cheers

That worked for me, but now I have lost the ability to rotate the view. I used to just hold down ctrl-key and I could rotate the view. Now the only option is to use the view cube. I think this almost as bad.

Same problem here.
Lost zoom, followed the workaround to turn off 'gesture based view navigation', then lost pan and orbit.
What the heck?

Guys, the main input device is already since more than 2 months not working for nearly all of your Mac users!

Do something!

@andreas.scheucherautodesk.hobby this issue applies specifically to Zoom with Gesture-based Navigation enabled on the Magic Mouse. Are you experiencing a general failure of all app input?

Hi,

thanks for reaching out. No, after turning off gesture based it worked again.

sorry, was frustrated, as i wanted to do some construction fora project and first fusion didn’t show the file panel in the left.

tried to uninstall and install again, but after removing it was still there.

it turned out I copied over my user folder from another computer including the library folder. Search indexing picked up the fusion installation from the backup. Took some time to figure this out.

had to delete it, reinstall it. Hence, I lost two hours I would have had a time slot to work on my hobby project after that I couldn’t use fusion anymore, as my mouse went amok…

long story short, it works again. Thanks.
