Models disappear

I get this issue frequently and it is incredibly frustrating when you don't have a a save to roll back to so you can save some of the work.. HOWEVER a lot of the time this bug happens, it seems to effect ANY of the saves that ever involved the model that bugs out and I have to roll back to a previous save that never held the bugged model in the first place.

Typically it seems to happen when my PC is maxing out its system to process something for an extended period of time and the program at the same time tries to auto-save/backup (i assume to the cloud maybe) and then when the program finally returns to a working state and completed what it was processing, there's an error pop-up saying it couldn't complete the auto-save/backup. I can keep working on the model until i close the program... When returning, the file thumbnail has the model on it but when opening the file the models are gone. (Sometimes the model will be in the list but won't be able to be interacted with in any capacity, but this time the models just not there at all but clearly it is because the files thumbnail has a picture of it).
The timeline shows all of the work i did to the model and it shows on errors but the model isn't in my model list.

I sadly can't provide the file which i know makes it harder to solve but i have important work in this save that I can't let anyone have or see.

Is this a known issue? Surely others have had this issue before, not just me? It happens all of the time, i've had to constantly redo work from 0 back to 100% again. If there was an equiv to fusion 360 i'd have already swapped over.

(I understand in these screenshots i'm not showing my model list. You need to trust me that i've gone through everything and turned each thing on and off to be sure it's not in the file. It isn't.)

Interesting update. All my timeline steps are there as i said, i can still see sketches made off of this model in my list and can turn those on and off etc, but I have a logo saved in this file i often use to "watermark" my work essentially and cut it out of my models. For the disappeared model in question, i had to move this logo over to it and cut it out of it... Here's the odd thing... The logo is back in its original place before i was moved to be cut into the disappeared model. It's as if the file rolled back any progress it had and yet it's all still in the timeline and sketches etc related to it is still there... What the heck.

EDIT: AHA! Okay, so when i roll back the timeline to where I first started working on this model, my first step was copying a model I already had into a new entity and then I worked on that. (I have a theory a lot of these errors come from me doing this, i need to know if this is bad practice). When i roll the timeline back to this first step, the model appears in the model list but is unable to be interacted with in any way (like i mentioned) and it doesn't actually "appear" in the program for me to look at or click faces etc.

Whenever I copy a body so i can keep the original and then work on the copy, it seems often times this error occurs eventually. It feels like the program thinks i'm doing the SAME WORK to the original body and so when i reopen the program it tries to load the original body but because it "had work done to it" (obviously not) it can't load it the way it needs to and just glitches it out of the file altogether. Am i not supposed to copy>paste (or move "create copy") and then work on the new body?

Hi,

That sounds strange.
Can you upload such a “phantom file” for a review?

Usually, that means it is of commercial interest. In that case you should not work with the free version of Fusion as that is intended only for non-commercial work.

Usually that's what that means, yes. But this isn't the case. It's personal to me and only me. I don't want anyone seeing my work and ideas, there's nothing commercial currently. I'd imagine this to be more common than it first seems.

Sadly I can't for this file. I work mostly on this file and so i've seen this issue happen with it many times. Actually, this isn't true. This is the 2nd file. The first file had issues in the timeline because I was learning things and felt I may have corrupted something because the timeline had errors so I took my bodies/components and placed them into a 2nd file as a new slate and worked from there. I felt that had worked for a time but then of course, i started getting this bug again. My timeline doesn't have issues and i constantly check it to be sure.

I wish i knew how to replicate it properly so i could perhaps do it on another save. I'm 10/10 file slots so it would mean having to delete one which would suck, just so I could try to replicate it but even then, i might be making random stuff for hours to no avail. 😛

If no one comes along that's heard or seen a bug like this, i may have to do that, i'm just shocked it's not a common thing people experience. I do wonder if it has to do with usings SVGs or meshes. I do work outside of fusion for specific reasons and because i have a background in graphic design, i'm accustom to doing things a certain way so i use other programs and then bring things into fusion which might be an issue too ultimately, i don't know. Very frustrating.

That's fair!

As you mentioned, it makes it challenging to help. However, I am not sure the symptoms you describe are design or file-related at all.

I don't remember anyone reporting these symptoms!
