Mirror an imported design

Hi,

I am building up a design from a couple of imported smaller designs, one of which is a motor.

What I am trying to do is mirror the imported design but the system is mirroring all of the imported designs of that type.

I want to retain the link to the source design if possible.

Does anyone know how to mirror an imported design without impacting other instances of that design?

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting! It looks like you are experiencing some problems with mirroring an imported/x-referenced design in Fusion 360.

You should be able to mirror the inserted component - is this not working for you? If you create the mirror feature after the referenced component is inserted in the design timeline, the mirrored component will be linked to the inserted component (its source).

Mirroring one instance of a component should not effect other instances of that component. I think I may be misunderstanding the problem you are experiencing - would you mind creating a screencast showing the problem as you see it? I'm also happy to have a look at your Fusion 360 design - the easiest way to share an assembly with linked components is with a downloadable link.

Thanks for the reply, I went back in to reproduce the steps and it worked perfectly!

I think I may have selected the body rather than whole component to mirror which lead to the very odd behaviour, not really sure.

Its working now though!

Thanks
