Mazak Quick Turn Not Recognizing Fusion Tool ID

Mazak 250-MY does not seem to be recognizing the tool ID (Letter)

I have entered the Tool ID into the product ID in the Fusion tool library and changed the parameters in the machine (F93 and F94).. The code posts as G53.5 and I am using the updated QT250-MY Post.. It always seems to select the tool at the top of the tool library.

(Example) I want to select tool  8, with Tool ID-(G) but it just selects the first tool/offset at the top of the mazatrol library options for tool 8..

NOTE:the post does show the (G) designation at the end of the tool callout (example) T0808.G

But still doesn't seem to pull the offsets...

Running out of ideas..

Thanks

Tyler

Hi @tyleradams8 ,

I may be misunderstanding the issue, but it sounds like a problem on the controller and not in the software/post processor. Have you tried talking with someone from Mazak?

Thanks,

Will

@will_1 Yes that is a possibility, we run everything through the mazatrol with no outside CAM currently so I really am starting from scratch with the Mazak, I've been going through the manuals with no luck so far, Mazak support is pretty lacking, so I was hoping I was just simply doing something wrong in the post process..

Hi @tyleradams8 ,

In my experience I have never seen the tool id output as a letter in NC code. It has always been a number. Is there a number that corresponds to the letter?

Thanks,

Will

@ will_1

I have attached a picture of the tool controller as you can see for tool number 8, It allows a Tool Nominal Size and a Tool ID Code.

Currently the machine is selecting Tool (#8) (CTR-DR/ NOM-.25 / Tool ID-S ) and respective Offsets. * I believe because it is the tool at the top of the list..

I want to select Tool #8-(End Mill OUT/NOM-.5/Tool ID-F)

I tried to insert (.5)(instead of F) in the Fusion tool ID code but the controller did not like that and errored out..

Note* obviously I could just move my preferred tool and offsets to the top of the #8 list but thats not feasible long term..

Figured it out.. So I guess they expect you to use numerics 1-26 to represent the letters that Mazak uses for the Tool ID Code in the controller..

Glad I figured that out but it creates another problem.. for example I use the letter B for my turning tools to designate an 55 Degree Turning Insert, there is an offset for the Face turning (EDGE) and a separate for the Radial Turning (OUT)

So Tool list reads as follows

2 General Out 2. B

2 General Edge 2. B

(C is used for 35 degree tools)

(A for 80 degree etc..)

The machine separates the two tools based on the Out/Edge designation... Fusion isn't doing this and just calls on  the first B it comes to...

What a mess..
