Make drawing transparent

I was wondering if there is a way, and how to do it if so, to make a canvas transparent after tracing it. Is that possible? I insert a canvas, like a person wants the rolling stones mouth logo or whatever you call it. So I trace it for a 3d cut, Can I make the picture behind my tracing disappear to save it as a DFX file?

@Anonymous - you can just turn off the visibility of the Canvas using the light bulb in the browser:

If you want to make the canvas translucent, you can do that by editing the canvas:

then just adjust the "Canvas opacity" control in the dialog to whatever level you want:
