Make a complex Hinge Functional

Hi Everyone,

I need to design a custom door for a secret room project. I would like to use a specific hinge McMaster offers. However, it is complex, and I am not sure how to apply joins to it and make it functional. Once I import it into Fusion, I get 15 bodies, and the arraignment is rigid and unmovable for some reason. It would be awesome someone could walk me through the process to make it articulate like the real hinge so I can design proper function and clearances for the door assembly.

Here is a screenshot of the hinge opened in Fushion:

Here is the link to where I downloaded it from McMaster:

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Joe

Attached is your model with the required Joints.  McMaster-Carr models come in only with Bodies which must be changed to Components before any Joints can be applied.  You will not be able to control the motion very well UNTIL the hinge is mounted in your cabinetry and even then, it will be difficult because of the two independent Joints.  I will be happy to do a video on my process but only if you really need it.  Model is attached.

Hi John,

Thank you for responding and providing the updated hinge model. However, there appears to be a missing joint causing unconstrained behavior. It is not usable in this state; would you be able to fix this for me?

You are correct, Components 8 and 12 need an As Built Revolve added here.

Attached in the model assembly with the added Joint.  Sorry for the mistake.
