MAJOR BUG: Drawings Environment on the Fritz

Since yesterday at least, the drawings environment has become unusable.

If I open a drawing where no changes have taken place to the referenced model, then activating a tool causes it to close the drawing and ask me to save changes. Cancelling the dialog does not return me to the drawing, but a blank drawing environment.

IF the drawing has changes to the model that need updating, then it just closes the drawing with no save dialog, it just vanishes.

Looks like the forum is on the fritz too, how hard does it need to be to attach a frigging screencast!

That's really odd behavior. Have you tried restarting your computer?

I ask that because there hasn't been a Fusion update this week, so if it was working before this week, and is not now, something must be local to your computer. Also, this is not reported anywhere else that I've seen, which would also indicate it's local to your environment.

If restarting your computer doesn't help, let's take a look at your graphics diagnostic. The graphics info can be copied from the Help > Support and Diagnostics > Graphics Diagnostic tool. Just paste that back here please.

Still happening, yes computer has been restarted multiple times, makes no difference. New drawings are unaffected.

Hi,

Okay well that is a great clue. So you are saying you can make new drawings with no problem, and also open and edit these drawings, and consume model changes, etc.(with no problems)?

If that's true, then is there any major difference between the drawings you can work with and those you cannot? Such as:

What project they are in

Custom title block

Drafting standard ISO/ASME

Use of add-ins (or not) to create them

If you can share a problematic drawing (via right click on it in the data panel, and use Share Public Link), use the option to allow downloading, and send to me in a PM I'll try to reproduce the issue.

The only common denominator is that it's an existing drawing. Every single saved drawing is now inaccessible to me. I can create a new drawing and do what I like with it, but if I save it then reopen it, it's no good.

That's the one created in this screencast:

The link is not working. Please try this:

  1. Open the drawing
  2. Go to File > Share
  3. Share Public Link
  4. Allow downloading

Send that link. This will bring the entire design, so if you want to share it privately that's fine.

Watching the video I can't help but think that looks like a graphics crash. Can you try switching your graphics driver in Preferences from DX11 to DX9? (that setting in in Preferences > General UI preferences) It's worth a shot here.

Hi,

It would also be helpful to see if there are any processes left running. In Windows, start up the Task Manager. On the Processes tab, under Apps, look for Autodesk Fusion 360. Expand that, then look for AcCoreConsole. You should not see any instances of this process running if you have no drawings open.

Looking forward to a sample drawing we can try out here.

Bingo! Changing to DX9 has solved it! Thanks for that.

That's exactly what I did, and the links NEVER work. It comes up every time you guys ask me to share a drawing, it simply does not work. Could it be because I'm in my Team storage not single user?
