MACOS fusion 360 does not install addons and scripts/ F360 instructions vary widely on scripts addons

I am actually really disappointed in F360. It seems the dev teams have decided to make simple things way overly complex. I started trying to repair and connect 2 splines. After lots and lots of confusion with the overly complex fixes I thought I would try scripts and addons. This just compiled the problems. None of the instructions for installing addons/scripts seems to work. The struct for the library folder is not what F360 has in the instructions. This seems like such and easy thing: Open store - select - AUTO INSTALL!!! But this is not the case. I have seen everything from auto install to must self install. Can someone from autodesk who I pay monthly answer this question?

How EXACTLY do I install a script and addon: githubtofusion360 - I was going to show an addon i tried to install from the store but because everything is so obfuscated I cant find it. I would like help on installing these scripts and addons BUT THEY NEED TO SHOW UP OR I CANT USE THEM. Currently the ones I tries to install from the store DO NOT SHOW UP in the scripts and addons.

This is an incredible disappointment considering AD and F360 reputation.

Which add-ins have you tried installing from the App Store? All that should be required is to run the installer and then restart Fusion.  They can add their commands anywhere within Fusion so you'll probably need to look at either their description or some of the images of the app on the store to see where to look for the new command.

I have tried to install a few: Octoprint, installscriptsfromgithub, 3dprintplus, fillgapsinsketch. And others

Now why f360 would have 2 different installs is beyond me but they messed up. The packages downloaded from Autodesk do not install properly, I forgot if i have a net install or app store. I think it is the net install but the way it is installing it seems to be doing the mac app store install. Either way once I run the package I only see alias's but not the files and when I try to find them it tells me the alias is broken. As a dev for over 20 years this is not a good setup. I can't get any info about the package files so not sure what to do.

  • Mac OS (web install):
    • Script: ~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/API/Scripts
    • Add-In: ~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/API/AddIns
    • Bundle: ~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/ApplicationPlugins

  • Mac OS (Mac App Store [MAS]):
    • Script: ~/Library/Containers/com.autodesk.mas.fusion360/Data/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/API/Scripts
    • Add-In: ~/Library/Containers/com.autodesk.mas.fusion360/Data/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/API/AddIns
    • Bundle: ~/Library/Containers/com.autodesk.mas.fusion360/Data/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/ApplicationPlugins

I removed the packages and all the aliases. Rebooted. I was able to install but I had to shut down the app then re-open.

how did you get this to work? I've tried uninstalling Fusion, installing the add-ins from multiple different folders, and restarting the app/computer but nothing seems to make fusion want to recognize any add-ins. I'm not navigating to the bundle locations and trying to get it to open the bundles from fusion, even removing the *.bundle extension to open up the folder to see if there's anything contained that I can get fusion to recognize and install. still nothing.

this has been working so poorly that I'm suspecting its an elaborate scam by Autodesk and that fusion never had any ability to do add-ins at all.
