macOS Big Sur 11.1 - Fusion 360 ver 2.0.9512

(States macOS 10.16.0 in About Fusion 360?)

Create Text inside a box is not working

When I select Text from the Create drop down menu the Text Menu box opens offering Box or Line options. I select Box and the cursor changes to an “A”. I then click the start point for the box and drag the box into a rectangle and click the end point.

Instead of the box drawn changing colour and the menu box expanding all that happens is the rectangle maintains the black checkered outline and the cursor stays an “A”. The menu fails to expand with the option of text, script, size etc. are not presented for use.

Thank you in advance for any help provided.

Hi,

I can't reproduce this on Big Sur. Are you seeing it on more than one machine?

Can you try restarting the machine?

It also might help to show a screen capture image showing the full text box and command dialog, after having drawn the text box rectangle.

Thanks,

Hi,

We've identified the problem as being related to using multiple monitors that are at different resolutions. Does that sound like your hardware setup? If not, please describe your displays, how many, and what type. Just to be sure we are fixing all the possible cases for this.

A workaround has been identified:

Launching Fusion on the primary monitor, rather than a secondary monitor, should clear up the issue.

Others have reported that simply restarting their computer and Fusion helped.

Please let me know if those solutions help. This is only intended to get you back to productivity today, and ensure that we are fixing the same thing you are experiencing.

I've been battling this problem too.

Noticed another behaviour. If I place the first textbox corner, then the next corner above and to the left of the first, the text does work but it's upside down.   If I don't do this, then I get the same behaviour as above, and also after that will be able to keep creating points for a text box, just dropping points everywhere, nothing else will happen.   See pics.

Also I'm running Fusion 360 via Rosetta on an M1, so, not sure if this is rosetta related or it's an issue in the build.  Everything else has been working flawlessly.

version 2.0.9512

MacOS Big Sur 11.1

M1 ARM

16GB

2nd display res = 3840 x 2160

If I start Fusion 360 on the primary display, create text works, but when I move the window onto the 2nd display, it stops working.  If I move the window back to my primary display, create text will work again.

Hope this helps

Many thanks for your help and advice.
