Mac version, holder selection page NON-FUNCTIONAL

It appears that nothing has been repaired yet on the Tool Holder selection on Fusion 360 Mac?

I can add a new tool (define the tool), then jump to the tool holder tab (which opens a new smaller window over the top), and this window is non-functional.  Jibberish in portions of the window, and neither the OK or Cancel buttons function.  Nothing in that window can be selected at all.   The holder window can only be closed by clicking on the red "X" in the top-left corner of the window.

As it is (and has been so through the last couple of updates), my only choice for creating a tool in the CORRECT holder is to jump over to my PC laptop, and create the tool/holder in my cloud library there, then come back to work on the Mac.

Is there any up to date advice on a workaround?   Any progress on fixing this?

Thanks!

I'm going to add a bit more info and bump this back up.

I am on an iMac, 32gig ram, i7, GTX680MX video, running 10.14.2 Mojave.

Tool holders (selections) are non-functional, and have been for a few updates.

- In Fusion, I can click on the Tool Library icon, which opens the Tool Library window (titled:  "CAM Tool LIbrary").

- I click on the "New Mill Tool" icon in the top bar, and a new window opens to create my new tool (titled:  "Library" plus the current job-file name).

---- the problems start here -----

- For starters, if I "Cmd-Tab" over to another app (e.g. say I'm looking for information), when I come back to the Fusion app/window, the window for creating the the new tool is now BEHIND the "CAM Tool Library" window, and clicking on it does NOT move the focus back to that tool design window.  It stays BEHIND the CAM Tool Library window even though I can grab it by it's title bar and move it around.

----- the problems continue ----

Now let's say I did not Cmd-Tab away, and the window for designing the new tool is still "in front" (has focus).  I design my cutter, then click on the "HOLDER" tab in the ribbon menu on the top.   Now that I'm in the HOLDER tab... the real problems start.  If I click on "Select Holder",  the "SELECT HOLDER" window opens, and nothing responds within that window, and the right column (which should show "something" is complete video jibberish  Also, the "Cancel" and "OK" buttons do not function.  The ONLY way to close that window is to click on the small red "X" circle in the very top left of the window (the default Apple "close-window" button).

And one more thing... if I Cmd-Tab away from Fusion and come back,  BOTH the "Select Holder" window and the "Library" window are now stuck BEHIND the "CAM Tool Library" window.  There is no way to bring the focus of those windows to the front.

So... am I the only one having this issue on a MAC?   I can jump over to my PC and design a tool AND holder no problem.  I've had this issue on my MAC for a couple of months now.

Any pointers, suggestions or solutions?

thx

Hi @whackinit

I see the same behavior on the mac. I'll report to development and let you know once I have a ticket number.

Cheers,

@whackinit

Reported as CAM-17625 . A note - I don't believe using the mac window switcher is supported, as it can cause focus problems.

Cheers,

Karina,

I don't have any huge heartburn about the "focus confusion" when switching away from the app and back.   I can live with that.

The inability to select/create any holder is what's obviously the big nuisance.

thanks!

THIS IS WHAT I DO.

HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH A MAC.

Go to the tool u want to change a tool holder to.

then in search type in CAT40-ER20 . F or example if you want a end mill holder type in CAT40-EM.5, .5 IS FOR1/2 DIA SHANK. Then press TAB key. this will get you to the holder portion of the window.from here you might have to down arrow a few times.

,but worked for me.
