[MAC] how to reinstall - which settings files to backup and migrate ?

i'm having issues with Fusion and since i've had Fusion always automatically updated for years i think a clean install is in order. i've found the documentation about how to clean install and reinstall but haven't found any specifics as to what/where settings files are stored, especially CAM setings like tool libraries and template operations.

Hi @rumpelstielz

Thanks for posting! It looks like you have some questions about backing up data for an uninstall/reinstall of Fusion.

All of your Fusion designs (provided you have been working online) are stored to the cloud, so you will not need to worry about backing up design data. The automatic clean uninstall tool gives the option to keep cache data, which should help ensure any stuck uploads are not removed.

Your layout settings (toolbar customizations, viewport settings) should be maintained, but we have seen issues with these being reset to the defaults during updates.

CAM Templates are always stored to the cloud in your Assets folder, so they are tied to your cloud account rather than a local installation of Fusion and will be carried over when you log into the new installation. Cloud Post Processors and Tool Libraries (that can be seen in the Assets folder in your data panel) will also be carried over. With that said, you will need to back up locally stored tool libraries and post processors, if you have been using them.

Hopefully this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

hi @paul.clauss thanks for your help. for the moment my cloud tool library is empty and all tools are in my local library:

i tried dragging all the tools over to the cloud library but this doesn't work.

I'm also wondering about my CAM templates:

where are these stored ?

i'm not concerned about workspace and toolbar settings, in fact i'd like to reset Fusion completely to start fresh to see if the problems i'm having disapear, but i do need to keep my tool library and CAM templates if possible.

Hi @rumpelstielz

Thanks for the response! The instructions for creating cloud tool libraries and post processors are included below:

Like the cloud posts and tool libraries, CAM Templates are stored in the Assets folder in your Data Panel. All data in the Data Panel is tied to your account credentials rather than a specific installation of Fusion 360 - it is saved on to the cloud rather than your local computer. You can always make sure your data has been saved to the cloud by going to myhub.autodesk360.com and searching for it there.
