Lost imported components

Today suddenly all models that use imported components have lost their imported components. An hour ago the file still opened but now they do not even open any more. On the web team pages the models are there and list all imported components correctly. The components also show up in Fusion 360 itself in the places they have always been. I don't recall I have even deleted a single one.

Models without anything imported work just fine.

I just tried downloading the f3z from the Fusion team site and opening it from the download. That solves the issue. How can I solve this in a more generic way without having to redownload everything?

Thank you for the VERY quick response!
I attached the log files of my desktop and laptop machines (though they will probably show the same).

In the  meantime things seem to have gotten a little worse. I can open my most recent document that does not contain any imported component on my PC where I created it but not on the laptop. I get a message that it cannot download the file. On the PC the file I reimported yesterday and the one I was working on still work fine, other files also error with a message they can't be downloaded.

I cam across Autodesk desktop connector and installed it on my PC. It sees all the files but will not sync them all files keep their cloud icon. Also opening from here does not open any files.

It looks like uploads are working as I see the quick edit I made just now to my last design in Fusion teams online. Also the Autodesk connector sees the file has been modified.

I just noticed that the recent files list is empty.

@koenRVGK7,

Can you run below text command and see if it works out for you?

os3.useCdn /off

Thank you. That die the trick. Actually on my PC the models came back by themselves yesterday evening. On my laptop not but after running this command they returned. Opening is a big show probably because nothing is cached any more.

Hi @koenRVGK7 ,

I am a developer on the Fusion team and want to give some insight into the technical reason for the issue that was experienced here. We have been working through a project that involves changing the underlying technology we use to transfer files between your local Fusion installation and our cloud services. Our end goal is to move to an Amazon S3-based service. This new service has been in development for a while now, and internally we’ve been using it exclusively for the last few months. We felt it was ready to go live and began rolling it out over the weekend. But as this thread shows, there was a hiccup, and small subset of users encountered security-related errors with the Amazon S3 links we were generating for file transfers.

Apologies for any inconvenience this caused-- the feature was disabled as soon as we recognized there was a problem. We have a fix in place, but before we attempt enabling the feature again, I am trying to coordinate with folks who were affected by the problem. I can enable the feature for your individual account at a time that works well for you and give you the opportunity to try it out, and to make sure your Fusion experience it not negatively impacted. This feedback will greatly help us ensure a smooth rollout of this feature in the future.

If you'd like to participate, or have any questions, you can reply to me here on the forum, or directly at joe.wright@autodesk.com.

Thanks,

Joe

@joe_wright1  I am OK to help you iron out the issue you found. You may set my account back to using the Amazon service at any time. I am very happy that as a hobby user I may use this superb piece of work, so if I can do something back to help I will even if that causes a small inconvenience.

Hi @koenRVGK7 ,

Thanks for taking the time! I've enabled this for your account. All you need to do is restart Fusion. If the problem comes back or you notice anything out of the ordinary, please reach out to me as soon as possible. After you've run with it for a while, if you could collect and attach your diagnostic logs again like you did above, this will give me some additional information to gauge how well the fix is working.

Thanks,

Joe

Hi @joe_wright1 ,

I tried opening files and again I was not able to open files that are not cached locally. I started some further investigation what could be going on and found that my DNS server (PiHole) reported a lot of errors on the autodesk domains as either insecure (means no DNSSEC is available) or bogus (invalid DNSSEC). Switching off DNSSEC checking gave me immediate access to my models again.

I also noticed that Fusion uses evergage.com a personalized marketing service which surprised me a bit.

The first start of Fusion after you change took a very long time (several minutes) but that was only once. After that Fusion seems to start quicker than before. Also model loading seems to be quicker (at least with DNSSEC switched off).

Thanks for trying this out and taking the time to troubleshoot the DNSSEC issue, this information is really helpful! I've gone ahead and turned this feature off for your account. I'll reach out again if I have questions after reviewing the data...

As far as Evergage is concerned, I am unfortunately not too familiar with it. I believe we use it as part of our Learning Panel. This panel lives on the right side of the window when enabled, and it provides contextual help for a lot of different tasks in Fusion. If you'd like to know more, I can ask around to get more details...

Thanks,

Joe
