Lost bodies and corrupted CAM operations after save

Hi

Not for the first time, after saving and closing Fusion I've re-opened it to find it has lost LOTS of work..... After several successful saves, it has wiped out a number of changes, including in files which were saved days ago. There were no issues using the file, up to the moment I saved and closed this morning. When I re-opened, all recent work is lost, with even saves from a few days ago missing bodies.

The CAM operations I created are still there, but the associated bodies are gone (hence the red warning symbols). This has happened before and it is extremely frustrating, as I now need to go back to determine how much work has been lost. Based on the bodies which are missing, it's at least a week, maybe more). Now,  I need to re-create bodies and all of the CAM toolpaths.

This has happened to me a few times on other files. As a hobbyist, I guess you can't complain when you get to use the product for free, but if I was considering moving to this as a side job, I'd struggle to justify spending anything on software which seems to break my files so easily. Given none of the bodies were linked (anything imported had the links broken, as I don't want to replace the original designs), so nothing else should be affecting the file. I should have realised when there were bodies which I couldn't delete, after turning capture design history on/off, that something was wrong. I can't understand how it has affected so many of the previous saves, which were absolutely fine at the time? Any assistance in troubleshooting would be appreciated, as I'm ready to give up.

If you really did save you files, you will find probably find a copy in this folder.  They are named a bit weird but you can easily understand what file you need by the first part of the name.  If you do find it, copy it to another folder of your choice and rename it.  The path I show in the screen capture is from my Windows system.   If you are using a MAC, then stop reading because I do not know anything about their operating system.  The first red arrow will be replaced with your computer log-in name and the second latest version of Fusion which may differ depending on how you maintain updates.  The folder is a hidden folder in the Windows environment so if you do not see it, then you have hidden folders turned off, check the internet to see how to change.

Thanks John

I already opened the saved file in that location, but didn't rename it. I just closed the open file, renamed that prior save from early this morning (before which all was fine), then re-opened it. It's still missing bodies, plus has also renamed the folder under Models to Camroot:1. It's saved a few versions to that directory, but they're all from today and the saves from a couple of days ago are gone. I assume they're removed after a fresh save, with some form of time or version limit on how many are stored in that directory. I wonder if it can be changed to save somewhere such as a Dropbox folder, so at least versions can be rolled back? Probably not 😁

It's weird that it has saved the CAM operations, but lost the associated bodies. My major issue is, this was a two sided body which needs to be absolutely perfectly aligned on both sides. I completed the machining of the first side and couldn't get it 100% perfectly square, so I spent hours probing edges of the stock to get coordinates, then copied the body, realigned it to match the slight angle deviation and then created the CAM operations for the next side. I started roughing out the second side, now I'm somewhat screwed, as to do this again I'll need to re-probe and hope I get it absolutely perfect again. Only then can I recreate all the work I've lost. Luckily, I think most or all of the sketches are still there, but I can't be certain until I dig deeper.

Thanks again for your response.

One of the issues is that I turned off design history in earlier saves, as due to the CAM operations it was taking forever to compute any changes etc. As the basic modelling was done, only adding simple stock items and CAM operations, I didn't feel the need to continue with the design history, as it massively slows everything down. Well, duh! However, after 47 saves with no issues, I still cannot work out why it would kill all of the bodies in the preceding saves????

I am having a similar issue. I can see where I have added the derives, broke the chain, and worked the bodies. I saved the file, because it was running slow. Waited for it to upload (now v3), and then exited Fusion. I restarted my computer, logged into Fusion and all the bodies are gone. I have tried to derive into the file and no bodies, I have restarted fusion multiple times and no luck. I have also waited an hr for the save to "upload" and no changes.

I have gone back into the history and tried to edit an extrusion and it shows no Target body Found.
