Logitech MX Master 3 mouse assignments do not work in Fusion 360

I am using a new logitech mx master 3 mouse and I have easily assigned mouse buttons to keystrokes/functions in other programs and just wanted to basically set my forward and back to redo and undo, and make the gesture button act as shift + middle mouse button in order to orbit. The logitech options app has all of the options to do this but none seem work with fusion despite working everywhere else I have tried.

Hello I fixed this problem by deleting the Fusion 360 custom settings in the Logitech options menu and adding it again when Fusion 360 is running. Sadly this will erase all older settings but now it works again, btw windows Logitech options custom settings do not transfer over to mac Logitech options.

Used mouse wheel right as middle mouse button and one of the side buttons as "shift" to pan and orbit without using the keyboard.

could you share a little more how you set yours up? advanced click or modifier keys? aside from my mouse still only sometimes working in fusion I was never able to get a keyboard free orbit down, I tired using my gesture button for shift but could not get it to register a hold rather than a press..

I'm using a logitech MX anywhere 2S, with the standard 'logitech options" software.

Instead of using the: advanced click option, which is just a click regardless of you holding down the button or not. I used the option: modifier keys and set it to shift.

- When pushing my scroll wheel to the right (set as middle mouse button) I can pan the viewport

- When pressing the front side button 1st (hold) and  then push the scroll wheel to the right I can orbit my model in the viewport without the use of my keyboard.    (Note that once you press the middle mouse button you can release the shift button or key and you'll still be able to orbit as long as you don't let go of the middle mouse button.)

I have MACBOOK AIR (2021 m1) with the Logitech MX Master 3 and been trying to assign BOTH the Pan and Orbit function on the mouse with NO KEYBOARD INPUT.  -  After changing many settings I found that leaving the fusion 360 preferences alone, down loading the new NEW LOGITECH MX OPTION+ (BETA) - DEC 2021. Then Assign middle mouse option button to "S" (did not work assigning to other mouse buttons for some reason). The S key will bring up the Fusion 360 search box. there you can type in PAN, then ORBIT and select the little up arrow to add as shortcut ( as shown in screen shot below).

Changing the preferences in fusion 360 to Tinkercad option did allow to pan with middle mouse button press down and orbit using the right hand mouse button but then I couldn't right click for options on Fusion desktop. 

I also tried assigning shift to one of the mouse buttons to be able to invoke orbit with the middle mouse button and for some reason that doesn't work.

I don't understand why the PAN and ORBIT function have been so difficult to coincide as mouse functions with Logitech and Fusion360. 

Maybe in the future if 3DCONNECTION CAD mouse integrates better with MACBOOK AIR 2021 and updates from microUSB and USB-A dongle I will look into their products, even their SPACE MOUSE WIRELESS.

I would like to also add that I am new to FUSION 360 and just wanted to put my experience out there. Hopefully, it maybe helpful for someone, Im sure there is a better way of fixing this limitation.

I guess that works too.

The only difference is that you still have to look at your cursor to click on pan or orbit. While I can do it from anywhere in the viewport without taking my eyes of the model. a more uninterrupted workflow in my opinion. I felt when ever I needed to take my eyes of the model my brain had to figure out what it was doing again.

Thanks Vanheesdennis1. That would be ideal. So maybe I missed something. Was there a solution posted on this thread using MAC, LOGITECH MX MOUSE, and Fusion 360 to be able to assign PAN and ORBIT to just work on mouse standalone?  I know the method I'm using is kinda of a workaround that is not ideal. I just wanna minimize keyboard interaction since I'm working off the laptop. I couldn't get the shift to work on the assignable mouse button. Do you have a screenshot of your MX mouse configurations?

GOT IT!!!!!  - I see what the issue was with my settings. I applied "shift" alone as a mouse assignment. When I try to use in combination with two mouse buttons at the same time it didn't work.  There is a special option with the new Logitech BETA ( which I didn't see in previous version - dec 2021) it allows to select exactly what I was trying to do.  The combination of SHIFT + Middle Mouse Button.  Here is screenshot below.

Works perfect  - one click of former side back button - goes straight into orbit mode.  The pan function have to hold down the middle mouse button.

One strange thing that you'll know on my logitech option + beta is that there are 2 instances of Fusion icons. I did the same configurations to both. Strange but it works.

For the  Scroll wheel change button (behind the scroll wheel )I have it as a modifier key 'ctrl' as I use logitech flow to switch between my computers. For the 2 side buttons I have redo and undo

EDIT (5/12/2021): for some reason on windows there are 2 fusion 360's option in logitech options so I had to change settings on both of them and see which one had an effect, if you see this do not panic.

I remapped the middle button to Shift+Middle, and moved the middle button to the gesture button. Like this for pan and orbit much better.

same problem here, with my new MX master 3 from Logitech with my new laptop on windows 11. 

not able to see fusion 360 on the mx master 3 config app (only fusion luncher which it doesn't work), everything is up to date

Hey man, hope you got this solved -- I was running into the same issue. If you didn't, here's how to fix it. 

You need to find the actual program path which is absolutely buried. One way to do so is to (1) launch Fusion 360 (2) Open Task Manager (3) Right Click -> Select Open File Location and then copy the folder path that includes the file location above. 

Then you can select fusion 360. I made an additional error copying the file path of Fusion 360 itself and when you try to paste it into the dialog box for file path within Logi Options, it just launches another instance of Fusion. 

So there you go. I have run into an additional problem related to the core of this article. The Advanced Click resulting in Shift + Middle Button doesn't seem to be working. Will update if I figure it out.

yeah I had to speak with the Logitech technicien to shove, partially, the problem. So, yes I had trouble to find the .exe file require to operate throught the Logitech app. The first I found wasn't the right one. I was most like a "shortcut" rather than an .exe file.

I found a chat somewhere else who explain how to find it in windows 11. In my case, the problem was the mind file was hidden so I never saw it. So I change my view setting in my folder to see hidden filles then saw the main file. After I just run the path to the .exe file. 

So yeah was able to find it, but I wasn't able to config it to my taste. The closest I had was found in another chat. In fusion I change the setting, in my preference, and switch Pan, Zoom, Orbit shortcuts to TinkerCad. 

I not what I had in mind, but better than what I had when I started which it was nothing

Ok so I solved it. 

Advanced Click doesn't work for enabling orbit, I think because Logi is processing it at [Middle Button then Shift] instead of [Shift then Middle Button]. If you press the middle button before shift, it will not enable orbit. Logi, you should make this addressable. 

Anyway, the solution I came up with is to assign one of the buttons on your mouse to a 'Smart Action' which simply presses the Shift key and holds it for 1 second. So you can press this key, then subsequently press whatever key you have bound as 'Middle Button' to pan and this will enable the orbit functionality as long as you hold it. 

Two buttons, not one -- but better than taking your hand off the mouse. Hope this helps someone!
