Legacy Post Process

Whenever there is an update, the post processor changes and it causes some issues for our machines. Usually I just revert back to the legacy post processor in the preference settings and everything is fine. However, after the most recent update I am not able to switch back to the legacy post processor. Has it moved or been removed?

The Legacy Post Processor dialog has been removed, and it's not going to be making a reappearance. To learn more about the new Post Processor UI, give this thread a read

It has now gone for good. If you can describe any issues you have, no doubt someone will be able to help. It really is not so different from before.

We are a foam fabricator. We use a cnc knife to cut foam. The issue that we keep having with the post processor is that when the knife makes a cut, it is supposed to lift up out of the material and travel to a new point to enter the material and cut again. The new post processor lifts up the knife, then back down into the material before moving to a new point with the knife blade down in the material.
A few people have tried to help, but this has been a constant issue with every update.

Is there a way to stop automatic updates? We have another seat that has not updated. If it does update we are dead in the water as far as manufacturing goes.

I can't see a reason why the actual output code would be different.

Since you still have the legacy dialog on another machine can you verify that the actual choices for post processor and the options are the same.

Something to bear in mind - If the post processor itself is an updated one, you may have some properties that are now set in the dialog for each operation and not globally. (haven't come across this as yet but it will become more common)

Can you attach the post processor you are using here or link to it in the HSM library?

This has happened about 4 or 5 times before. Others have tried to help. Thank you for your assistance with this.
I've attached the post processor that works "old post processor" and the current post processor that causes issues "July Multicam custom"

The simulation on Fusion 360 doesn't show the error but it happens when the machine runs.

Enable cloud libraries in Fusion's preferences and upload the old post to the cloud post folder. If you're using a team hub you'll be able to access the posts from both of your seats.

After enabling cloud libraries go to Assets - CAMPosts and upload your post.

Then when you create an NC Program you can just select from your cloud post.

You might also want to uncheck create in browser if you don't want to reuse the NC Program and select Show Save As dialog will give the same sort of feel as the old dialog.

Hi @williamlFL

There is no changes between your posts.

sergequiblier_0-1658851038058.png

Given the properties defined in the post, I don't thing the issue is there.

The properties only interact with lines numbers, formatting.

One thing strike me, the post does not have capability defined. (MILLING or CUTTING)

Are you using this post with milling toolpaths, or fabrication (cutting) toolpaths?

Regards

We are usually cutting. I don't recall what we were doing in the file I sent.

If the issue doesn't lie with the post processor org code, any ideas what would cause the head on the machine to go back into the material after completing the cut to travel to a new cut?

There are a lot of issues when trying to test you post.

As it's complaining about function not being defined...

It does not look like a post written by Autodesk, as a lot of specific things are not inside. (UUID... specific comments and headers)

It will be nearly impossible to diagnose, if you don't share a gcode, that is badly behaving, and indicating where the problem is.

Tht way we can eventually try to reproduce the issue.

Sharing the Fusion file and the gcode will be the best.

You can either share a link to your Fusion file. See:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-t...
or you can save an archive (f3d, or f3z) and share it on the forum
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How...

Regards.

@williamlFL  If you still have the seat running the old post dialog, take some screengrabs or pictures of the dialog and note any properties you've changed and make sure you use the same settings on the new NC Program dialog.

Below you can see a setting I've changed in blue.
