Jagged edges using Sweep tool to create coil

Hi All,

(1) Getting jagged edges on my coil, rather than a nice smooth surface:

Does anyone know how to remove these edges?  I tried saving as an OBJ and it included the edges.

(2) I tried saving my coil as a STEP file — it ended up 6.8GB in size?  Ideas?

Thanks

There are empty sketches and missing geometry for the construction plane and sweep and multiple bodies. I would start over and keep everything in one component for the body. Maybe that will fix the coil.

Here is how I would do it.

Thank you.  After the sweep, how do you restrict the pipe from only following the outer edge of the coil?
Whenever I apply the "Pipe" tool, it follows every path, including the original sketch.

Deselect chain selection in the pipe command and it should work.

Once again, thanks for your help!

Done some testing....I found Fusion does not handle larger twist angles.

When I increased sweep twist the file you sent to 15000, it looses its smooth curves and becomes angulated

Seems to produce smooth curves up to about 9000?

It does look like it can't handle the high twist.

Even more issues when you try and align one end of the coil cord. Fusion simply crashes.

What are you trying to do with the coil, is it aesthetic or functional?

Aesthetic for prototype imagery at the moment.
