Item moved from file not moving with same joints

I recently created a project with a complex component, so I designed it in a separate file. Whenever I put it into the main project file, I could no longer move any joints like I could in the project's own file. Does anyone know how to solve this issue if it is solvable at all?

Normally if you create a component assembly with Joints, then save it as an external file, then Insert it into another file, the Joints will be retained.  Please attach your model so the Forum users can understand your structure and help you out.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.
