Is there a way (or an available script) that lets me rotate the entire view using mouse and keyboard shortcuts?

Is there a way to do the same functions of these buttons, but as a keyboard and mouse shortcut? I find it really annoying that this is the only thing I have to use the view cube for and I was wondering if there was a way to do this (also possibly with precise control of the angle) with a mouse and keyboard shortcut like pan or orbit?

When it comes to working fluidly, you are always better off working with both hands with a 3D mouse.
