independent physical material selection

I'm using Autodesk Fusion 360 2.0.7813 personal.   I have several components that I've created from the same sketch.

When I change the physical material property for any of these components,  it changes the physical material property for ALL of the components.  If I go back and create a new component from a new sketch and then change that components physical material property, it still changes the material property for all components.

This seem pretty odd, so I must be doing something wrong.   I search the forum and google and didn't find anything immediately relevant, so I thought I would ask the question here.  I went back and checked the Handle example in Tier1 of the Fusion Mastery class and I have the same issue with that model, although the "appearance"  settling is working, which then raises the question about the difference between appearance and physical material.....I'll have to research that.

if these are instances of the same component, this is expected behavior - all instances of a component share the same geometry, including Body, and Physical Material is a property of the body.  If you really want instances to have different physical materials, you will have to create independent copies of the component (Paste New).  Alternatively, if you are only interested in appearance, you can apply an appearance to a component instance by dragging the appearance onto that instance in the browser.

Thanks for the reply.  Originally I created all components from a single sketch/drawing.  But then I went back and repeated the process using two separate drawings to create components and then I attempted to change their physical material and I got the same unexpected result.   Also, the Autodesk tutorial file had independent components and I had the same problem with that.   I'll play with this a bit more today and I'll also try appearance to see if I can get around the issue.  Thanks.

@Anony.MousIR - if you can share the model and a screencast of what you are doing, I can probably clear up things for you, but I wasn't 100% certain what is in your design or how you are using Physical Material.

Thanks.  I switched to appearance instead of physical material and that's working for me for now.  I'll investigate the physical material issues later, but it must be something weird that I'm doing as I learn the tool.  Thanks for the offer of support.
