Hi Team

Im an absolute beginner to fusion360 that is moving away from solidworks.

(Q) when importing the solidworks file i go through the upload tab and all is good, i see the model in data panel but when i click on it to open the file opens in A360 web broser and not in fusion 360. Im confused and not sure what im doing wrong, would love some help, thanks

I also noticed that the icon in the data panel has a yellow "indicator" on the files i cant open, see attached.

Hi George,

Solidworks files have to be translated via the cloud.

If you use a personal license, this feature is not available.

Try this: > Grabcad > convert (STEP...) > open in Fusion.

Dear Guenther

Thanks so much for the clarification.

My practice time on fusion is now over, time to switch across from solidworks to the new world of fusion.

Cheers for that

1. translation of Solidworks files is not included in the Personal License.

2. import these files into Grabcad and convert them to STEP to open them in Fusion.

To GA:
Thanks for your response. However, if I move my proprietary Solidworks design to Grabcad, then anyone in the world will be able to see it.
I thought there was some way to do so via Github or some other system with better security.
