Importing Solidworks Assemblies

Hi guys,

My goal with Fusion 360 is to open a Solidworks Assembly and export it as an STL or OBJ file for use in a separate software. I am able to import the file and parts into the Fusion 360 data area on the left hand side of the UI. However when I double click on the part or assembly it opens the file into some kind of 3D browser viewer which is extraordinarily unhelpful. The tutorial I followed showed that by double clicking on the assembly it opens inside Fusion 360 where it can be manipulated and interacted with. Can somebody please explain to me how I can accomplish my simple goal? What is the point of the web based 3D viewer? Why does clicking on the parts in the upload tray not directly load them into Fusion?

Thank you,

Parker

Does your license type support SolidWorks translation?

What version of SolidWorks are the files?

Thanks for that. Looks like the corporate paywall strikes again! I'll have to figure out some other way to get these files converted.
