I can not extrude up, only down

I am a new to fusion 360.  I designed a simple tolerance gauge for 3d printer in component1 . printed OK. Based on the results i wanted to  created  a components exactly the same but narrower range. I created the sketch the same way i did for the first. When i try to extrude, Fusion only allowed me to pull it downwards but not upwards. When i set direction to up it does not show any preview, when I click ok, it places a extrude icon in the timeline and creates a body in the browser but there is no extruded body at all. Visibility for the body is on.

Everything in the sketch are constrained.  Sketch has text as labels to be embossed after extrusions. I suspect it might be causing the issue but at the same time i did the same in my component too. Besides deleting all did not solve the problem either.

If i choose to extrude downwards, it extrudes as normal without any issues and the body is visible.

What may be the reason?

do you by any chance have a Section Analysis active in your model?

Hi,

please show your process in a screencast and share the file

File > export > save as f3d on local drive > attach to post

No. It was just a simple sketch. 6 rectangular boxes with 0.2  decrements in their dimensions and embossed labels underneath.

As i mentioned above It was just a simple sketch. I just deleted the component and created a new. This time it worked just like the first component. Though i am curious what might have avoided me to extrude upwards.

I am posting the screen shot of the final design just to give you an idea how it looks. If you might have gone wrong with such design. Though i doubt it. I cleared the evidence.

I do not see a screen shot of the design with your post.  But, more importantly, as @g-andresen suggests, we need the actual model.  Export as a Fusion Archive, and attach it to your next post.

I am sorry it seem i could not upload first time. I manage to replicate the problem.  As you can see from the screenshot The bottom of whole parts share the same plane. So when i select everything and exrude them to 0.5 mm at the same time, i can no longer extrude the gauge boxes and text upwards but only downwards.  If I extrude the gauge boxes first then the rest of the face everything works OK. I could not understand why it does not work the other way?

now I created a new component within the same file to test. Create a rectangle in another one and extruded both to 1 mm at once. When I try to extrude the inner rectangle again Fusion initially proposed cut but when I selected join, it joined without  any issues. I did not even need to set any offset.  So unknowingly I set something awkward in the other component before starting to sketch.

I'm still not entirely sure what does not work.  But, based on this description:

"now I created a new component within the same file to test. Create a rectangle in another one and extruded both to 1 mm at once. When I try to extrude the inner rectangle again Fusion initially proposed cut but when I selected join, it joined without  any issues. I assume the problem was in the component "gauge", not in. "finer gauge".  I had no trouble extruding both ways from this sketch.  If something else is going wrong, please explain in more detail.  Thanks.

@tbenkerE2YG2

I notice that your first sketch is more complicated than necessary and even has duplicate lines over top of lines.

Would you like to learn how to simplify this with step-by-step instructions?
