So appearently I accidentally activated an imported .obj component in a project while on the render tab and I only realized what I had done once I got back to the design tab, about 50 timeline steps later. So If I'm definitely not undoing all of those steps just to not activate one component. However, I can not for the life of it figure out how to manually deactivate a component. There simply isn't an option for it. It's weird because it looks like a circular checkbox that you can check or uncheck, but once you've checked it, you can't just click it again to uncheck it for some reason.

Activating / Deactivating a component can be done using two main methods as outline in the video.  You normally will always have one component, sub-assembly or top level assembly active.

Activation is not a toggle operation.  You have to activate the root component (the one at the top of the browser), to de-activate a lower-level component.

Just activate at the very top and you are back to normal.
