How to set date format for drawings

Is it possible to set the date format for drawings?  When a new drawing is created the date is auto-populated in the title block in the format of: mm/dd/yyyy.  I would like to change it to ISO format.

Eh sort of? With the new ability to change the format you can create a custom ISO title block and change the date format based on whatever you want.

Basically you'll need to edit the title block and insert the proper field formatting for the attribute - the background on this is basically using AutoCAD tech on the drawing title blocks.

So edit the title block and insert the valid ACAD date field in the attrubute:

%<\AcVar CreateDate \f "MM/d/yyyy">%

Should be like this:

I've not tested this beyond today so i'm not positive how Fusion relates to this field for future days. I'll check again tomorrow and see if its working properly.

I created a template, but wasn't able to use the ACAD field you provided.  When I created a new drawing, Fusion 360 used what I had literally typed.

I did find that the system date format is used, but being able to use a template would be preferable.

Hi Ryan

I'm looking for a setting to change the date format in the Fusion 360 project panel. Your American date format will probably be fine for all your USA customers but there is a wider world out here and I find your custom confusing and annoying.

If there is a setting that I'm missing in my ignorance please let me know and put me in my box and I'll go back to sleep but if not please do put in a request for me to have that option added somewhere.

@arnold.tree,

I"m not sure how this applies to drawings, are you talking about the titleblock date format in a drawing or the formats found inside the data panel?

Pardon me, Ryan. Its about date format rather than drawings. I searched for
'date forrmat' at the top level in the forum. (I will revisit your
workaround though when I am starting on drawings.)
My current gripe is about the data panel in the main Fusion 360 environment.

Why doesn't the software use the operating system Locale/Language settings? Preferably with the option to override them?

I also find the strange American date format confusing.

Is there still no option in settings to change the date format?.... this should be a basic feature, not a script modification

My preference is YMD (yyyy-mm-dd) for everything, as it lends itself to sorting: grouping from large to small.

The same 'foreign' date format applies to the saved date shown within Fusion 360 and even this forum. Is this an Autodesk thing?

Surely the computer's location settings should auto-format dates within Fusion 360?

There are users outside the US!

I am puzzled that an international player such as Autodesk didn't address this issue in the first place, and even more surprised that such an oversight hasn't been fixed by now.

Especially as this thread about the issue is now 5 years old!
