How to rotate view with one axis only?

In the design & animation view I need to be able to rotate the view (not move parts) with one axis only.

Is there a shortcut or another way to make it happen.

I do have 3dConnexion space mouse compact, but even with that the model is always moving to some other axis also.

If using rotation / move tool in animation space then the middle axis of a design is just whatever and it will move from side to side fluctuating. and unable to make smooth rotating animation with complex assemblies.

Good question. A couple suggestions:

Use constrained orbit:

And in your spacemouse control panel, there should be a way to set a dominant axis.

Is this for the animation workspace only?
