How to regain access to files in a shared project after 2021 license changes?

I have a number of files I created that were in a shared project that was managed by another hobby/free license.  Even though the project was owned/managed by the other user, I created and own many documents inside that project that they never opened.  With the changes to the way the free license works, I no longer have access to these.  Is there a way to get my files out of the managed project and into my own workspace so I can regain access to my files?  This change to the license for hobbiest users has been really frustrating and feels like a big bait and switch.

hi, this article explains that you can't transfer your project because of the Personal license's limitation of collaboration features. It also suggests two alternatives.
