How to find the sketch that created a body ?

Dear forum members,

I am trying to modify and add to a model, originating from a step file, that I did not create myself. I identified a body that I want to make longer. So I looked in the online help on how to edit bodies and found only this article with a pertinent explanation : help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=GUID-AB1E409A-7963-44CD-88F7-1EA2D3CF2999

The article says : “If your intent is to edit the original definition of the body, find the sketch or feature that created it and either double click or right click to edit. The feature or sketch will be in the midst of the timeline.”

I found a few features that I suspect have to do with that body (not in the midst of the timeline), but right- or double-clicking them doesn't seem to acomplish anything. Maybe if I can find 'the sketch that created the body' I could make progress, but the article doesn't explain how to do that and I can't find an article that does.

So, how can one find such a sketch ?

Hi,

Note that an imported step file does not contain sketches.

Indeed. I have noticed that the original model does not have any sketches.

The help article should be changed to reflect when the promoted methods do and do not work and advise what to do when they don't.

I followed a procedure described in this screen cast : help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?caas=caas/screencast/Main/Details/8b4d278a-db6d-4891-a947-a87af66360f9.html

It worked. I failed to consider the timeline, so my meddling caused other problems, but that is a different issue.
