I did not do the whole thing, just showing how to get started with the main part of this object.

  1. create the two blocks, using sketch + Extrude.  Look at the timeline for details, but you will need an offset workplane as part of it (to get the 140 distance)

  2. Then create a centerline sketch with the two arcs:

  3. next,  create the loft.  Be sure to specify tangent end conditions, and choose "centerline" for the rail

  4. then, create the variable radius fillet.  I just did one edge.  The key is to set two midpoint conditions, at the edge endpoints, and set the radii appropriately

sample is attached.

@wsirrigation026kan

Is this a school assignment?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file of your attempt to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

In any case, make sure that your sketches are fully defined (blue lines/arcs should keep you awake at night).

Also, the 32mm on the Hex (actually not a Hex because of this dim) does not make logical sense to me.

Can you ask the source to join this discussion?

Me too.  (Edit - think I have it now)

@jeff_strater Couple of things,

Where did you get the 70 dimension from?

you have not used the 10 dimension in the path.

Not used the 2 x 22.5 dimensions,

bottom of both blocks are 45 apart, you have 52.5

Tangent connection would upset the 140 lines in top view.

Might help...

OK, I found it.  Actually I see it in the 3D annotation but do not understand the logic of why it was dimensioned.

This drawing is terrible.  I suspect that it does not match true Design Intent.

"Where did you get the 70 dimension from?"

I guessed, because it was under-specified.

Using that centre line rail does not provide the drawn result.

If the OP returns - I will give it more time.

Here is my supposition:

Based on 30 years of teaching 3D design this looks to me like a class assignment that was not well thought out.  Over the years, students would find issues with my assignments to them and I would refine as appropriate. In some cases I made the same mistakes for ten years before a student would say, “Shouldn’t that be…” and I would immediately incorporate their improvements.

And being in the business of education I would see a lot of work by other instructors who apparently didn’t learn from their students.

I made some changes on Tangency and on the "Hex".

Sure, understand that, (agree that the original data is crap)

we are both suffering distorted bottom surface silhouette (highlighted) , not matching the 2d graphic.  Your connection to the bottom plate looks Yuk, but the tangency there would help, presume you haven’t modified yet.

Can be fixed, external rails.
