How to create a section view from a specific distance?

Hi,

as per title, I'm asking you how to create a section view from a specific distance in Fusion 360.

When I want to create a section view in DRAWING mode, I can select a point using the snap function on an edge or on a midpoint of a segment. But what if I need to use a distance where I don't have any reference point?

E.g.: I have an airplane's propeller and I want to create a section view using a distance of 100 mm from the external edge.

So far, the only solution I've found has been creating a 100 mm wide "construction solid " and using it as reference.

If there's no other solution available, is it possible to implement this function in Fusion's monthly updates?

Thanks a lot

Add an unconsumed sketch in the model at desired location.

Snap the Section line to the sketch line in the drawing.

Attach your file here if you can't figure it out.

(Not sure if this would parametrically update though if you edit the sketch.)

I have to do some more testing.

Thank you for your kind reply! Unfortunately I'm not able to solve the problem with the method you suggested, have you personally tried it? Because I cannot see the sketches even when I click on the eye to show them. Moreover I cannot insert a lenght when I create sketches in drawing mode... It only shows the real time lenght but numbers are "frozen".
On other cad softwares It's really quick and easy to do this kind of section views, I believe the only solution that really works is to build a "construction body" but it's quite a waste of time...

1. Yes.  Can you Attach your file her?

2. That is why I use other CAD softwares other than using Fusion 360 - basic functionality that existed in other parametric MCAD software 10+ years ago.  Imagine purchasing a phone or a automobile that didn't do what phones or cars did 10 years ago... ...design differently!

Hi,

1. You must create sketches for section views in design mode. For this purpose, lines  can be generated at the specific positions.
2. after the design has been saved, the corresponding sketch can be activated in the drawing mode and used to create the section plane.
