How to change zoom intervals on Fusion 360?

Anonymous

My designs are very small scale - usually 20 - 50 mm at the longest point.

When I try to zoom in to my model with the scroll wheel on my mouse, the zoom jumps in really large intervals.

If I am using my 3D navigator, it zooms so fast that it goes right past my model, making it extremely difficult to work on. This is even if I have the 3D navigation on the slowest possible setting.

I've been googling it, but I haven't found a solution to the problem.

How do you change the zoom speed/intervals?

Best,

Bethany

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting in the Fusion 360 community.

I understand you are experiencing that difficulties!

Unfortunately Fusion 360 does not have any configurations to change the zoom speed or interval at this point.

Did you try to zoom in/out by pressing the scroll wheel with [Shift]+[Alt] if you have not?

It gets it zoom in and out steplessly.

Hopefully this helps.

Thanks!

@saito.khThis wasn't an issue until recently.  Almost all of my models are 10mm or smaller and everything was fine until the other day after the update.  Like @Anonymous said it is impossible to use a 3d mouse now.  I actually just posted a topic regarding this.  Hopefully it gets fixed soon!  If you check out my thread there is a screenshot in there.

Thank you @saito.kh . My experience has been the same as @halfmoonmods. My workflow is with the 3D mouse, which is nearly impossible to use on my small models since the last update.

@Anonymoustry switching your camera to Orthographic view.  That should fix your problem.  The problem seems to be happening when you are in Perspective view only when using a 3d mouse.

Same situation for me too - orthographic vs. perspective with a 3D mouse and also issues with mouse wheel.  Please fix Fusion!!

Can confirm same issue since last update. Mouse is affected too. Ortho seems to be fine but hybrid and perspective are kinda unusable atm.

I just tried this (05/15/2022).  It seems to be hold <Ctrl><Shift> (not <Alt><Shift>) then press and roll the scroll wheel for continuous zoom w/o increments.  Now I can hold a scale up to the screen and zoom my small part to nearly exact size.  A very useful tip.  Thanks!

UPDATE: I made one mistake on my description. You don't "roll the scroll wheel". That sentence should be: " It seems to be hold <Ctrl><Shift> (not <Alt><Shift>) then press and hold the scroll wheel then slide the mouse up/down for continuous zoom w/o increments."

On my mouse I can just press and hold <Shift>, press and hold down the scroll wheel and move the mouse and it works as well.

Shift + Ctrl + Scroll gives perfectly smooth zoom.  This is the answer to your question, ignore the rest.  Including the incorrect answer from Fusion 360 team...>_>
